Propeller was basically a good site but it had a lot of technical glitches that were very annoying.

just for the last year. before that it was a very simple site. leaned left, too, but that's what made it fun. us right minority types had a lot of fun pulling on their tails.

Propeller was dodne in by it's down time. It was just annoying to try to participate on the site. Old Dog take heed !! You have a great site here, Digg has blown it and you can win big, but you have to make the "Dog" experience a satisfying one.

No one likes to wait, and wait, and wait. It killed Propeller.

Sorry to any Propeller fans but this couldn't happen to a better site.

These @ssholes banned me a while back for being a truly independent conservative voice - they couldn't take the fact that so many of my articles were getting a lot play over there. Not to toot my own horn, of course, but this is the truth.

So, goodbye to bad rubbish.

You all should have read the hate mail I received from the left when they knew it was being shutdown. Filth and hate, I love it, shows I was getting to the progressive/solialist left.

I really hope OD takes a more even handed approach if the site ever has to ban a user or users. I never participated on prop other than to support friends. Part of the reason, aside from their lousy platform, was the unfairness they showed to some folks i had knowledge of.

@Mollydog I saw the same thing, accounts being removed for no good reason. It was like walking through a minefield, you never know when your account would just disappear.

One of Propeller's employees spoke in a Digg comment thread. He was pissed. He said it had been gamed and had to ban quite a few people. It's terrible to go to a site then treat it like rubbish, I don't even know the site, but I have a glimmer as to what they must have been going through. Disrespect is contagious. How sad for so many....

Ironic that the socialists over there have yet to grasp one simple fact.... lack of revenue is what did in propeller. Laughable that a site that gave free reign to the liberal voice and viewpoint was done in by what those communists over there despise most the capitalist economic model. Like that line in The Right Stuff states "no bucks, no Buck Rogers"

Bottom line, the site sucked. The servers were so slow half the time the pages wouldn't even load and you had to click "prop" 20-30 times and still it wouldn't take. It was one of the worst examples of a social network site I’ve ever seen. I don’t know how any of us put up with it so long.

Danel you should have read the hate mail I received also. Filth and hate. aceofspades1 and meanmrmustard aka mountainman444. Responded to them forcefully, blocked them and a number of the other usual suspects and then deleted my account several hours later. I am certain a number of them will show up here sooner than later. I hope they do not wreck this site with their uncivil and taunting behavior, their personal attacks, their profanity laced tirades and their comments filled with sexual innuendo directed primarily at the female members of the site. Beav like you said the dissenting minority opinions is what made it fun, to tug at their tails and pull their hair but they took boorishness and incivility to new heights especially when they could not rebut any arguments with facts which was 99.9% of the time. and then play the victim card. They are still doing it today.

There are a few differences of opinion within DP, although for the most part, they are extremely similar in perspective. They hate Obama. They hate progressives. They hate the UN, diplomacy, and peace/disarmament efforts. They hate reforms of health care, Wall St., and immigration. They hate science, in fact many are creationists, and some even blog about it. They hate the secular nature of our nation. They hate environmental protection, requiring polluters to be responsible for their own cleanup, and especially hate climate efforts. They hate unions and any attempt to level the playing field to give all Americans economic opportunities. They hate the government, except the military-industrial complex. They hate abortion rights. They hate public schools and really hate higher education. They hate anyone in the media except far right personalities like Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Michelle Malkin. They hate anyone who doesn’t think Obama is a secret islamist and/or marxist who was born in Kenya. They just love to hate.

Although this is a fringe group of Teabagging wingnuts, many well established figures in the Digg community are also present, such as BalancingAct, EMFK, Janinco, mikeinto, and spindig. 10 members have been part of Digg since 2005-2006, with 43 having their current account there for over 2 years. 19 are in the top 500 all time users as ranked by Social Blade, including 3 in the top 100

having been the target of constant harassment, stalking, and having my stories targeted for years by the liberal majority on Propeller I can assure you that no such behavior exists within the liberal community whatsoever. Alternet a truly unbiased source of info. The authors tone and demeanor says it all. BTW the stats he cited on Digg were no different than the stats of the 10 top members on Propeller who were all liberals. The number of stories with a liberal slant that would make the front page on Propeller outnumbered the number of stories with a conservative slant by a far margin and the number of Conservatives stories that were grounded was astronomically high in comparison to stories with a liberal slant.

Oh Jesus, Novie is pissing himself over the DP's again. You would think he would stfu after Digg shamed him and didn't give his dishonest piece of slander the time of day. He gave them what amounted to the Library of Congress in stolen emails and they just ignored him. Undaunted he gave the personal information he'ld stolen from private citizens to 3rd party's and even tried to enlist some of Digg's elite power players to slander the DP's but no one would sign on.

Gee, wonder why ? I don't really think it's the fact that private emails were stolen and distributed, or that the cherry picked quotes he smeared the DP's with didn't come close to supporting his allegations, I think it's because, even before he soiled himself with the DP expose, novie was pretty well known in the community as a fool. Tolerated, as almost all are no matter how bad they get, but certainly not supported or sought out.

It's hard to imagine the depth of mental illness that would compel someone to spend what I think was a year or close to a year of his life stealing other people's mail just because his ego couldn't stand the thought that his material just isn't that good. Imagine, violating almost a hundred people's privacy rights just because you got buried by what was at most a handful of people. Hard core stalkers exibit better mental health than Novie.

The fact is if Novie had any traction at all in the Diog community the few digg downs he may have taken from the DP's wouldn't have mattered a bit. But he just can't face that fact, even now. Pathetic and sad. The price we pay for open forums, if we let everyone participate there will always a few individuals who won't be able to handle the freedom or the inevitable disagreements.

Not to beat it to death but Prop went down because it was a difficult site to use and, frankly, much of the user base were too immature to make it fun.

How is closing down your site because of low revenue the fault of conservative members? And Digg didn't change its site due to conservative members...its changes were in the pipeline for a long time.

I understand, though, without these sites being behemoths, you're probably not getting much traffic to your blog. Couldn't have happened to a more yellow journalist.

A poster who is anonymous. Right young ward? A poster who writes for online rags and did a HUGE EXPOSE about conservative posters on Digg by getting access to private emails where members suggested stories to be buried and members suggested stories to be dugg.

Propeller went the same route as Air America and for the same reason -- done in by its own liberal extremism. That an "insider" allegedly told the Digg crowd of how the liberal-extremists running the site gamed the system (that's how the grounding feature came about) and banned conservatives for no good reason is no surprise whatsoever. It was obvious to all but the most rabid of liberals.

Lets see if OD will allow Both sides to be seen and commented on with out banning members, ban them for Personnel attacks but not for opinions . (hint hint goppy)

with the liberals it always boils down to who is doing the hacking. When Palin's e mails were hacked the person should have been given the Medal of Freedom. When the CRU e=mails were leaked (an inside job by the way as everything was catoragarized and put in order) those people should have been given the death penalty. In the case of Novie he probably feels he should be award the Medal of Freedom also.

Propeller never banned anyone for posting "racist" stories. They only made up that excuse when intolerable liberal-extremists got upset with any conservative who made himself or herself known on Propeller. And, of course, intolerant fools continue parroting the Saul Alinsky marginalization tactics employed by the left (Label them all "racists").

Olddogg is doing it right. I love the green simplicity. Digg had the right approach with their "2.0" style but had terrible execution. Lets hope Olddogg comes through.

I'm surprised it took so long. It was fun a few years ago before they banned as many conservative voices as possible. Both sides were at least civil to each other and could carry on spirited and lengthy debates. I haven't participated there in about 2 years. I thought the vitriol would subside a bit when the election was over but if anything it got worse.

Dragon, so far I've found it the chances of it working to be about 50/50, for me anyway.

The plus sign on the coments raises it 1. I think it only goes to 5 but if some one negs it after or during your pos it stays the same.

I've noticed it takes a few min. sometimes for it to register...if the # vanishes when you click then the vote was registered
